Great in the end, April 10, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Birkenstock Women's Adria Sandal (Apparel) Ok so I got these because I have knee problems and wanted a sandal that had good support but still looked like a flip-flop. These shoes did the trick! Not only are they super cute but they are helping with my knee pain.
**piece of advice: the straps are made of actual leather so they take multiple wearings to break them in (as opposed to the birkko which takes no time). Make sure you have band-aids on hand to avoid any cuts. I just wore them while I was breaking in the shoes and had no problem. Now the shoes are wonderful and comfy, but I will warn you that it takes a couple of readings to get them there (don't give up!!!)**
**o and also, if you are unfamiliar with wearing heavier flip-flops (which are very different than the $2 foam ones available at a certain clothing store) this will take some getting used to in that regard. Yes, they will hurt a little until they get broken in. I spray a little water on the strap then wear with socks around the house for a few hours. They are then good to go.

A Birk with some hip to it!, April 25, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Birkenstock Women's Adria Sandal (Apparel) I was highly hesitant to order these after reading such varying reviews, many of which were not favorable due to the straps rubbing the foot raw. I realize all new shoes have a period of being broken in, but at the price paid for Birkenstocks I was nervous that they would be uncomfortable (mainly on the top of the foot and where the buckle is) long after that period should be past. At first the shoe was very uncomfortable but because of the hip flip flop style I was determined to for these to work. After wearing them almost non-stop inside and outside the house in an effort to break them in and see if the leather softened any, I am now pleased with the fit. I found that the underside of the straps, which initially were a roughened leather, have softened considerably. Perhaps it does so as the oils on the skin rub against it? Now, a week later, they are much more comfortable to wear and I anticipate the comfort level will only get better as time goes by. I'm very happy so far... Read more
